Having enjoyed a period of extraordinary success with its wines in the UK, things are not currently quite so comfortable for the Australian wine industry. Their ambitious vineyard planting program that was implemented nearly a decade ago has now resulted in a serious over-supply problem, particularly in the high cropping Riverina region. Focus is definitely switching to regionality - Australia is a huge place and it stands to reason that its many grape growing regions will be better suited to certain varieties than others...
